The tithi of āśvina kṛṣṇa caturdaśī is very auspicious for the worship of Lord Bhairava. This follows Navarātrotsava and the propitiation of Parāmbā is considered complete only after the worship of Bhairava.
In Bimbāmbikā Saṃpradāya, the chief form of Bhairava worshiped is ūrdhvavaktra Bhairava, whose consort is Parā Bhairavī (whose mantra is the same as that of Saṃpatpradā Bhairavī). The āvaraṇa pūjā comprises of the worship of:
Prathamāvaraṇa:
Indra Bhairava, Agni Bhairava, Yama Bhairava, Nirṛti Bhairava, Varuṇa Bhairava, Vāyu Bhairava, Kubera Bhairava, īśāna Bhairava (worshiped through their respective bījas)
Dvitīyāvaraṇa:
Asitāṅga Bhairava, Ruru Bhairava, Caṇḍa Bhairava, Krodha Bhairava, Unmatta Bhairava, Kapālī Bhairava, Bhīṣaṇa Bhairava, Saṃhāra Bhairava along with Brāhmī and other Mātṛkās.
Tṛtīyāvaraṇa:
Pracaṇḍa Bhairava, Caṇḍa Bhairava, Mahonmatta Bhairava, Ugra Bhairava, Rakta Bhairava, Jhaṅkāra Bhairava, Mahoccuṣma Bhairava, Samaravijaya Bhairava (with their respective mantras)

Bali is offered to fifty-six Bhairavas through Ucchiṣṭa Bhairava and Sumukhī. A vaṭu is then worshiped and gifted red and white garments, fruits, and sweets.
