Saluvesha

The Supreme Lord mahAbhairava, for lokahita, appears in three forms:

AkAshabhairavaM pUrvaM dvitIyaM chAshugAruDam |
sharabhaM tu tR^itIyaM syAdrUpatrayamihochyate ||

1. AkAsha bhairava
2. AshutArkShya
3. Sharabheshvara

Sharabheshvara is described as the fiercest of these in mayUkhamAlinI tantra, in the phalashruti of shArabha mUrti pa~njara stotra. Lord sharabheshvara is described as assuming nine different forms, three of which are primary:

1. sharabha
2. sALuvesha
3. pakShirAja

Remembering these five forms of mahAbhairava frees one from Adhi, vyAdhi, shatru and mR^ityu bhaya. For protection, shanti and puShTi karmas, the form of sALuvesha is especially suitable. The sALuveshAnuShTup mantra can be used by all those devoted to sALuvesha, to earn his grace, without the need for a specific initiation.
